dog meat needs omnivores too

Seems that rivers in Midwest USA are flooding at record levels. At last I heard, no deaths have been reported. Just lots of expensive property damage, which is the insurance companies’ problem. People can rebuild.
The farmlands in that area are taking a hit that will affect the entire planet. The world is already paying record amounts for corn and soy. As the floods reduce harvests, prices of those essential grains should increase further.
This would be a good time to mention the economic costs of meat, in relation to grains and fossil fuels–of which corn is mutually related. However, I don’t care if the world’s developed and emerging markets continue to increase global demand for meat. I’ve simply gotten tired of trying to raise public awareness because it’s a losing battle. One man can’t make a difference. When I try, I’m ridiculed, and I’m tired of being ridiculed. So instead, I’ll have the sadistic satisfaction of watching the world eat its way into a food crisis, thinking to myself: “told ya so.”
A meat based diet is a waste of land, water, non-renewable resource and grains fed to the animals. I’ve been singing this song since 1989, when I started my lacto-ovo vegetarian diet to raise awareness of the economic costs of a meat based diet.

Now the rivers in the Midwest USA are flooding and creating further stress on the already stressed global food supplies. I wonder if this rain and flooding were caused by climate change due to global warming, or if it’s just what happens to a river every so often. Riverbeds have rich soil because they are periodically flooded and given a fresh coat of nutrient rich silt. The rivers in the Midwest USA often are kept from flooding by using levies. It’s effective flood control but unnatural. It’s natural for the riverbed to flood once in a while; it’s what fertilizes the land naturally.
But we are modern man. We are developed now. We are smart and powerful. When something natural happens in our increasingly unnatural world, we are shocked and sad. “How could this happen here, to us?” we say. We are masters of our universe, masters of all the animals, and we will eat lots of them because of our increasingly high status.
Eat meat every meal, every day. If you are a man, eating meat shows you are successful and masculine. If you’re a woman, eating meat is necessary to live and must be considered traditional food.
From a sadist’s perspective, the food crisis should be interesting to watch. As we all fight for food, we’re going to see just how ugly we can be.
Eat meat every meal, every day. Give me the twisted thrill of watching our demise. About this issue, I care that much.
