i got mine
In addition to the sensational, shocking, and strange new news we’ve had in the world lately, I’d like to add to the list the recent receipt of my favorite chocolate candy, shipped directly from the states.
Yeah, amidst the turmoil and terror of the world, I find it just as vital to report on the sweet and chocolaty taste of my favorite, homemade Godsends. Actually, it’s a dark chocolate covered orange peel. I know, the name isn’t very appetizing but I think they’re wicked good, terribly delicious, and pretty damn yummy. Just between you and me, I’ve never offered to share them with anyone, but that’s only because I’m selfish and no one deserves it.
In other news, I’m finally doing some traveling in China. Been here 3 years and haven’t been outside of 3 very cold northeast cities. Frankly I don’t care where I go, I just want to see something else. It’s only for the weekend but it’s better than nothing. It’s not a vacation either, but that’s okay too. Maybe I’ll take some pictures and post some.
Oh yeah, and my Chinese tutor bought tickets to 2 events of the Summer Games during the recent phase 3 Summer Games ticket sale. He was very excited because the tickets were selling fast. On the second day of ticket sales, all tickets to all events were sold out, so I’m told. I would not believe that to be true anywhere but China–or maybe India, right? This country has so many people; there are always massive crowds at any public event. Massive. Always.
At this time, I don’t have any plans to see any events during the Games and I’m completely happy with that. Beijing will be a zoo. One great big beautiful zoo with massive crowds of people coming from parts of China that haven’t been practicing not to spit in public, smoke in public, or push and shove to the front of any line anywhere. I can see it now. I go to Tiananmen to view the cityscape and witness firsthand China’s coming out party, and in the heat and massive crowd, I pass out. Hundreds of visiting kind Chinese people will simply watch the strange alien with the big nose and blue eyes flail and fall. Tolerate the strange alien. How interesting. Let’s see what it does next. No one will have a blue’s clue to give me first aid or call for help. Instead, it will be like watching a monkey in the zoo.
One great big beautiful zoo.
I think I’ll stay home and enjoy my chocolate.
