If I write “Tunisia” and “Egypt” in the same sentence, everyone in the world (except maybe some of my Chinese friends) will know exactly what I am referring to. And now the discussion is starting to include Libya, Bahrain, Yemen, Algeria, and Iran. The New York Times produces some really pretty multimedia. Take for example this list of African and Middle Eastern rulers that are subject to the current heated debate. You can see that the page is a list of political rulers and their respective kingdoms and territories. What I find really interesting is what they all have in common: U.S. financial aid. The United States sends economic and/or military aid to every one of these countries (and more). |
