| It’s interesting to see what is the most popular search phrase for this country name. What’s equally interesting is the strange difference in Mandarin and foreign language reporting. The stories presented by Mandarin and English language Chinese media are markedly different from foreign news agencies, but not in any expected, typical way. With China’s rising wealth and power, what’s likely to be true in the 21st century is that it won’t be America or the foreign media that “keeps China down.” In the 21st century, superpower China will have and be everything it needs to keep itself down. This lesson is learned from being a wealthy superpower. Having astounding amounts of wealth and resource fuels great corruption, as any American would know. To explain its problems of the 21st century, China will likely attempt to use the excuses it used in the 20th century, but China will be far too wealthy and powerful for those old excuses to be valid anymore. |
