“I was telling my one friend back home that we always learned about china out of history books. It was always just black ink [on the] white paper and a couple of historic pictures. Yes we would hear about China in the news, but it was always so far away from South African existance that it became just a place somewhere in this world.
When I saw the opening of the Beijing olympics live on TV earlier this year I could not contain my excitement, I had tears in my eyes, because I knew I was coming to a place so rich in culture, a beautiful Rainbow.
And here I am today living in Beijing, travelling the subway, eating the food, meeting new people and I am loving it!”
