success

We just finished our May holiday here in China. The holiday is May 1st and I believe it celebrates the workers. The whole week is put aside for travel and relaxation. Many businesses and individuals do not work during this time.
Today I was asked how I spent my vacation and if it I did so pleasantly. I gave the standard “fine, thank you” answer, but in reality I think that was an understatement. I’ve been thinking about what I did during my holiday and have decided that my holiday could not have been better, for the following reasons:
1) I spent time laughing with friends.
2) I ate good food.
3) I prayed and gave thanks to the timeless ideas of those who came before me.
4) I made a beautiful woman smile.
5) I traveled to a new place
6) I communed with nature.
7) I talked to my parents.
8) I made some money and didn’t spend it all.
9) I exercised.
10) I learned something new and I taught someone something.
The definition of success is relative. While the size of one’s bank account or net worth is the traditional norm, others may find the definition as the number or quality of friendships or the happiness of their family more accurate one. Some may say living in the south of France or having the (dream) job they can’t believe they get paid for is what defines success. What’s your definition?
Relatively speaking, my holiday was not unsuccessful.
